Company name

In the immortal words of Shakespeare – what’s in a name? When it comes to your business, the answer is a lot! In most cases your business name is one of the first things your potential customers will know about you, so it’s vital that it makes a good impression. When choosing a name for a UAE company there are two main aspects to consider: the emotional and the practical.

The emotional side of the UAE business naming process is much the same as the rest of the world. Your UAE business name should evoke a positive emotional response, appropriate to your products and services. What impression do you want to give? Reliable? Caring? High-class? Efficient? You should keep these traits in mind when choosing your UAE company name.

Now, what about the practical aspect? Here there are three key things to consider: your UAE company name should be memorable, flexible and future-proof. The first point is self-explanatory – you should choose a UAE company name that sticks in the mind.

Bu what do we mean by flexible and future-proof? Firstly, your UAE company name should be usable across a host of applications – will it fit seamlessly on your products and your branding? Is the domain name available? And so on. Next up, when choosing a name for a UAE company you need to consider how well it will stand the test of time – for example, ABC Hardware may work now, but will it translate if you move into other areas such as consultancy?

Finally, there are some country-specific considerations when choosing a name for a UAE business. UAE company names must not contain offensive or blasphemous language, abbreviated personal names, or references to political, religious or sectarian groups (such as the Mafia or FBI). Also, if you wish to name your UAE company after a person, they must be a partner or shareholder in the business.
